South Plateau Trail

This tour is rated from novice to intermediate and is not as congested as some of the other trails. The South Plateau trail heads due south from West Yellowstone along the western boundary of Yellowstone National Park. This trail is your best chance to see moose that frequent the area. This is a pleasant tour that you make short or take a complete loop via the Black Canyon trail. If you head west along the Black Canyon trail you wil eventually come to the Powerline trail if you continue on this trail will link up with the Two Top trail or you can take the Railroad trail and head south to Big Springs.

If you decide to take the loop on The South Plateau trail be sure to bring a lunch and warm clothing. A lot of riders decide, after leaving, to continue on towards Idaho and before they know it, its late afternoon by the time they head back. A word of caution on this tour, if you decide to continue on, check with the rental outfits to find the nearest gas stations for refueling.
